Life is full of changes, they can happen in an instant or over a period of time, but change is inevitable.
These changes can catch us off guard, bring about very uncomfortable feelings. They could be to do with a person in your life, change in personal circumstances or a fresh challenge ahead. Either one of these can bring about fear.
I write this, as I too face an enormous challenge ahead. I am leaving my home to go abroad for a month. I am going alone on the journey and do not really know what will happen. This morning fear really struck me to the core.
The Lord then reminded me of the story of David and the Goliath. Just remembering the story in the bible gave me hope and confidence. I decided to do a little research myself. I haven’t read the story for a while and thought it would be good to read it again.
David, out looking after his sheep, a humble shepherd, was called to visit his brothers out on the battle field where they were being taunted by the giant Philistine, Goliath. Not only was this man a physically impressive, but the mere presence of him brought shudders to the Israelites. Fear! Such a great enemy!
“When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid”…. 1 Samuel 17 v 11

“Firefighters Fight back Flames to Save Family.” News at 11. Up Next “Hundreds of Christian volunteers rebuild homes destroyed in flood.” Our top story ” Unknown man stops assailant wants no credit”. When everyday citizens like you and me perform extraordinary feats, when the average Joe puts his self-interest and safety second and places the interest of others first, when we witness Christ- centeredness rather than self-centeredness demonstrated we pay attention. When we hear and see these acts of neighborly love we immediately and reflexively sit up, and take notice. These types of acts of goodwill grab our attention. These selfless acts motivate us to reflect on the condition of our heart, inspire us to change, and give us hope. But beyond the headlines and hidden from the sight of most of our daily lives are other individuals, again like each of you, who also motivate us and inspire hope. Each and everyday thousands of people make a conscious decision, a practice, and a career of putting others ahead of themselves by following a higher calling of salt and light.

How can you know what your spiritual gift is? Did you know that God has a plan for your life? A glorious plan that only you can fulfill? Did you know that you were created specifically for that purpose? That you have the exact characteristics, personality and abilities to accomplish that task? And that only you can fulfill that assignment just the way God wants it accomplished? Yes, you are here on assignment. The key is to find out what your assignment is! Let’s conduct an experiment. I want you to pick a specific time and place. Then just sit at that place at that time every day for a week. Focus on your breathing. When you are relaxed, ask God, "What do You want me to do with my life?" Listen for His answer. Do this for a few minutes every day. Eventually God will speak to you. Maybe in a vision. Perhaps a dream, a picture or a still, small voice. One day I did this and became so relaxed that I almost fell asleep. Then I heard God's command. It was only three words and one of them was "a." It wasn't an instruction for now. It was a future command. And if He can speak to me, He can speak to you. What are you naturally good at? What are your talents? What do you enjoy doing? These are clues to where your spiritual gifting lies. I am a teacher at heart. For many years, I thought that I had to be a school teacher to use that gifting. God didn’t call me to teach in the schools. He called me to teach His Word, which I do when I write.

> With the complexity that our world has nowadays, most of us tend to become worldlier and preoccupied with material possessions. Some attend church but their thoughts are not concentrated with the idea that attending religious services is a way to serve God. However, we should feel the need of paying more attention to our spirituality and finally serve the Lord by being serious regarding the services that we need to accomplish in church. Some parents who want to have their children achieve a more meaningful life by enriching their spirituality decide to enroll their children in Sunday school. Most of us do not realize the value that this activity causes to our children. Little do we know, apart from being taught of the teachings of God, a child will have a spiritual uplifting once that he attends this activity. Here are some reasons why it is a good option to let your child attend Sunday school. First, your child will learn more about God’s teachings and therefore, acquire the much needed values that he has to learn and show towards his family and peers. As we all know, it is a divine imperative that we should know the teachings of God. People nowadays focus on material and self development, but they completely forget that one should grow spiritually as well. Material things are fleeting, and they cannot, in any way, be used except during the course of our earthly existence. Sunday school will help children realize the value of spiritual development in his life. At an early age, your child will be more aware of the values that the Lord exemplifies, and this will somehow improve his relationship with his peers.
